Integrative Therapy in Chelmsford

Thursday appointments for mind and nervous system work

Therapy that Includes the Nervous System Work

Many people come to counselling because they feel anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected or emotionally stuck. Sometimes they want to understand why they feel this way; sometimes they simply know that something does not feel right.

Integrative Therapy includes counselling, while also working directly with the body and nervous system. Thoughts, emotions, relationships and patterns can be explored through conversation, while the body offers another way into what may be happening.

Sometimes understanding brings change. At other times, we may understand ourselves very well and yet still find that tension, anxiety or familiar reactions remain. Working with both mind and body allows us to meet these experiences in more than one way.

Alongside my established practice in Brentwood, I now also offer Integrative Therapy appointments in Chelmsford.

Beyond Talking Alone

Many people come to therapy having already tried to help themselves. They may have read books, listened to podcasts, practised mindfulness or breathing exercises, and developed a good understanding of why they feel the way they do. Yet despite all this effort, something still doesn’t seem to shift.

Often this isn’t because they haven’t tried hard enough. It’s because insight alone doesn’t always reach the nervous system.

In our work together, I don’t ask you to repeatedly practise techniques or simply think differently. Instead, we work with your mind and nervous system together, using conversation alongside gentle, responsive body-based approaches that help your system experience something different in the moment.

This might include therapeutic pulsing, guided movement, awareness of physical responses, or therapeutic touch through clothing where appropriate and with your consent. Every session is shaped around what you need, rather than following a fixed method or set of exercises.

The aim is not simply to understand why you feel the way you do, but to help your whole system discover a different way of responding. When that begins to happen, change often feels less like something you have to make happen, and more like something your mind and body are finally able to do together.
